Dear colleagues and friends,

We thank all the 400 participants that you came to Magdeburg at the 8th International Symposium on Neuroprotection and Neurorepair. After visiting other very beautiful places in Germany, – Rostock and Potsdam in 2010 and 2012 – this year the Neuroprotection and Neurorepair Symposium returned back to Magdeburg – the city where we had started the “Magdeburg meeting series” in 1998. We successfully established an international platform for Neuroprotection and Neurorepair, focusing on basic, preclinical and clinical research in the fields of cerebral ischemia, stroke, dementia and stem cell repair.

From 2010 the rejuvenation of the conference started, when Johannes Boltze and his team from Leipzig joined us. In addition “eventlab” was hired as professional congress organizer.

Over the years the “Magdeburg meeting” was steadily growing to over 300 delegates coming from every corner of the globe. We are proud that our meeting has reputation for lively interactions, fruitful discussions and exchange of ideas especially encouraging young researchers to mingle with the senior experts. We hope that you enjoyed our 8th ISN&N in the 1200 years old city of Magdeburg with its scientific and touristic attractions. Among the unforgettable moments was certainly the Gala reception in the Kaiser-Otto-Saal in our Kulturhistorisches Museum.

We, Klaus and Georg, your “local heroes” and senior ISN&N initiators are sure that the coming conferences will be excellent with fresh ideas. Moreover, we promise that we will continue to actively support the subsequent meetings from 2016 onwards. We will surely see you in two years in Leipzig (19. – 22.04.2016) at the 9th ISN&N.
